Why Change the Prop:

A prop is your only connection between the power of the motor and the water. When the diesel was originally installed, the prop diameter and pitch were calculated based on RPM and max HP rating. With the change to electric propulsion, you’ll have slight differences in those figures. This can drastically change your speed capabilities and the responsiveness when maneuvering. We’ve partnered with Bruntons to use their Eco*Star prop.

This is a design specifically for electric propulsion and based on the auto prop they’ve had for years. The basic concept is it changes pitch based on RPM. This means for any given RPM, the pitch will be optimal, great news for low RPM motoring to conserve battery power. The biggest advantage is while in regen mode, the slower-spinning prop is pitched to get the most amperage out of the lower RPM. When you’re not in regen mode, the prop will feather like the race boat you are. We’ve used other folding and feather props, but they lose the ability to operate in regen mode and have a fixed pitch so when you aren’t at the designed RPM, you aren’t getting the most out of the electrical propulsion system. We will take your current hull speed, desired cruising speed, and use the motor system of your choice to match the Eco*Star size and custom blade shaping.
